I have been a practicing and fully insured holistic therapist for the past 26 years. Initially I trained with the Tisserand Institute of Aromatherapy and then continued my studies as a Clinical Aromatherapist with the Shirley Price Aromatherapy College (SPA). Having subsequently gained an Adult Education Teaching qualification, I went on to teach the Aromatherapy Diploma course for SPA for a number of years.
I personally feel that training should be an ongoing part of my growth and work as a therapist, so I consequently trained and qualified as a Reflexologist and also as a Reiki Practitioner in the following years, adding these therapies to my Holistic Therapy Centre.
In 2009 I was introduced to Energy Healing and was fascinated at just how powerful and empowering this form of therapy was – my view of this holistic therapy is that it goes really deep down to the root cause of my clients’ problems and clears them out very quickly. I decided to train with Michael D’Alton’s School of Bio-Energy Healing in 2010 and incorporated Energy Healing Therapy into my Holistic Therapy Centre, with truly wonderful results for my clients.
Prior to entering the world of holistic therapies, I was a freelance Producer/Director for ITV, working on a range of programmes including Children’s Programmes, Factual/Documentaries and Light Entertainment/Comedy. I loved my career and my work, but it became less and less creative and more about making money and viewing figures – my job satisfaction and happiness in my career plummeted dramatically. Being true to myself, I decided on a dramatic career change to restore happiness and job satisfaction into my life and started training as a holistic therapist – the rest is history …
The Holistic Therapy Centre is located at my home – Oak Tree Farm – which used to be part of the old Godolphin Estate in south west Cornwall many years ago. When we bought Oak Tree Farm our main priorities were privacy, great views, lots of space and only the sounds of nature around us, because I wanted a home where I could create a dedicated oasis of peace and calm for my Holistic Therapy Centre. My therapy space at The Holistic Therapy Centre is very important to me, as I believe it adds to the healing and relaxation process which clients receive when they come here for their treatments. My vision was for the therapy room to be a good-sized space, light and airy, warm with subtle lighting, quiet, peaceful and safe. I believe that my therapy space at The Holistic Therapy Centre has achieved all of these basic requirements and more, and my clients often comment on how very special my therapy room is. Oak Tree Farm is not a working farm, but we do have some pet sheep (Joyce and Peggy), a horse (Smartie) and a few chickens and ducks and three feral cats, who live a very pampered life here with us.
